We love working with cast members of all ages and experience levels. If you want to be on stage, we welcome you to audition for our show!

Nothing! While we certainly welcome charitable donations to further our mission, we don’t want financial barriers to stand in the way of people being part of our community.

No. All roles are assigned based on merit, and every cast member is expected to audition. Directors may invite specific performers to audition for a production, but a role will only be offered after a full audition process. We value fairness, transparency, and the opportunity for all performers to be considered.

No. A cast member’s involvement in a production is not dependent on the involvement or support of any other individual.

Time commitment varies by role — principal and supporting roles will naturally require a greater level of commitment.

We ask that auditioners list out all schedule conflicts for rehearsals and productions. While we will do our best to work around your conflicts, an excessive number of conflicting dates may affect casting.

Absolutely. Our program relies heavily on the generosity of volunteers who give joyfully of their time. If you have off-stage experience, a special skill, or just want a community to be part of, there’s a place for you at Columbia.

Rehearsals will be each Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturdays beginning January 23rd with minimal extended hours as we approach show run March 20-29th.

Evening Rehearsals will run from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Saturday morning rehearsals will run from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Please do not make any permanent plans during rehearsal times not listed on your original conflict sheet.

A full rehearsal schedule will be provided to cast members at first rehearsal.

Of course! We would love to have you involved! If you’re interested in volunteering, you can reach out to our Operations Director Ellie at ellie@columbiatheater.org and she’ll get back to you as soon as she can about volunteer opportunities either pre-show or backstage based on your skills and interests. We are excited to work with you!

We provide opportunities prior to auditions to request or decline specific roles in any show and we do our best to consider and honor all such requests.

If you do decide to back out because of role placement without letting us know you’d only accept certain roles in advance, we will not force you to honor your commitment. However your decision may impact future casting decisions of Columbia Theater.

We are one of the early adopters of an incredible program called CircleUp and are excited to use them for communications for Guys and Dolls! There will be a sign-in link for the app (now available for both iPhone and Android).

Yes! All staff, volunteers, and contractors over the age of 18 are required to have up to date background checks done in order to participate in any activities run by Columbia Theater. If you have been cast in this show or wish to volunteer with this show, our team will email you a link to complete the background check before the third week of rehearsals. Background checks not completed by then are subject to review by the executive team which may result in a suspension of participation until such time as a background check can be completed and verified.

If you have a recent background check run by another organization Columbia Theater is not authorized to accept it for our own liability purposes. We must run background checks on each participant ourselves.

Please note: The cost of each background check is $45 for cast members, payable upon completion of the report.

For volunteer staff and production team members, Columbia Theater will cover the cost of your background check.

At Columbia Theater, it is extremely important to us that theater is made available to all who wish to participate regardless of financial status.
